Visibility Drawing is a special and welcoming space that helped me rediscover my passion for visual arts and find community with other queer and trans artists. After painful experiences of gender dysphoria, drawing trans and gender non-conforming people was healing, as was modeling for the group and feeling truly seen through everyone’s art. I am now applying for MFA programs and working as a model for local colleges. Visibility Drawing changed my life.

In a political climate where our differences are increasingly marketed as a weakness, Visibility Drawing has created programming that provides safety and genuine care (for models and participants alike) in a way that vigorously affirms and celebrates the indisputable value of the LGBTQIA and disabled communities within the arts. Their programming is a rare and unique resource within the Bay Area arts landscape that demonstrates that creativity, community, and self expression shouldn’t be a luxury by providing essential access to the arts that is truly accessible to everyone. As a cofounder of Moonlight Press, it has been a privilege to host some of their events and I have heard firsthand from participants what an invaluable and affirming experience their drawing events are.
